Summary
The Divisions of Cardiovascular Medicine and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Michigan are seeking a candidate for a faculty position in nuclear cardiology / cardiac nuclear medicine. The University of Michigan has an internationally recognized program in this arena, including cutting-edge research and class-leading equipment.
Responsibilities will include attending in the nuclear cardiology laboratory at the University of Michigan. Depending on training and background, additional clinical duties in cardiology, nuclear medicine, and/or radiology will be customized based on training and needs. Additional responsibilities will include teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students and supervision of exercise physiologists and nuclear medicine technologists.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking to develop an academic and clinical career in nuclear cardiac imaging. The candidate will be able to build on a foundation consisting of numerous landmark advances in nuclear cardiology developed at the University of Michigan, including: initial human studies in multiple radiotracers, development and validation of attenuation correction for cardiac imaging, and critical advances in inflammatory and perfusion PET imaging of the heart. There is a deep bench of potential mentors and collaborators across the institution.
The nuclear cardiology laboratory of the University of Michigan is an internationally-recognized, high-quality, high-volume facility with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Resources in nuclear medicine include multiple cyclotrons, radiochemistry facilities and staff for PET and SPECT tracer production, four PET/CT systems with the latest in solid state digital PET/CT dedicated for cardiac imaging in the Frankel Cardiovascular Center Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory. Additionally, multiple modern SPECT/CT scanners are also present.
Required Qualifications*
M.D. degree and be board certified or eligible in cardiology, nuclear medicine (ABNM) or diagnostic radiology (ABR) with nuclear medicine certificate of added qualification, and have comprehensive training in nuclear imaging of the heart. Candidates should have experience in stress testing, ECG interpretation, and management of stress-testing related complications. In addition, a proven track record and interest in cardiovascular imaging research is also desired.
Selected candidate will also hold (or have the ability to obtain) appropriate medical licenses for the State of Michigan. Preferred candidate will possess the critical elements of teaching (knowledge of subject matter, skill in presentation, enthusiastic approach, etc.).
